·        Personalities sought for CAA Promotion - Kenney Jones, James May

·        ATSOCAS promotion in the flying school instructor seminars and AGM.

o       UKFSC meeting presentation created several questions

o       Website could be used to exchange questions and info with the users.

·        Copywrite video requests for the CAA advent calendar requested.

·        Voiceovers on the CD production for GPS usage and advice are complete. The CD will be available in Jan 09.

·        Database of significant GA events is being built up for ATSOCAS promotional purposes.

·        ACEP Budget – only £500 left for this year although NATS may have additional funds.

·         GA awareness presentation for controllers produced by AOPA – still needs further review. It was suggested that some info expansion on airspace, IMC priveleges, differences in PPL and ATPL training and aero. Some additional info on VLJs may also be useful.

·        Deemed Sep Working Group still working on promotional material with output date of Xmas 08.

·        Airspace classification CD and article followed up with NATS.

·        Contact lists for foreign users of uncontrolled airspace for the ATSOCAS have been compiled. EASA will be targeted through the ESSI. Airports will also be targeted. Skybrary and Eurocontrol also on the list.

·        ASI Roadmap now coming to the end of its useful life and a risk log would be developed as the way ahead.

·        AOA Rep is being sought for the Shairspace Initiative.

·        Airspace structure poster is being looked at in DAP and will reflect ATSOCAS as it is introduced.

o       Need to include ATSOCAS in the training syllabus for GA – CAA will review.

o       Place final versions of the airspace classification map/diagram into specialist magazines for the various organisations.

o       Comment on the poster’s accuracy required by ACEP members by the end of November 2008.

·        AOC operators can allow ATCOs on the flight deck by clearing it through Flt Ops at CAA.  Where ac have a reinforced door, CAA permission to fly on the ac is required.

o       Business and commercial air transport opportunities are being sought under the NATS SPA initiative, but the rules as to how and who can fly with the security issues in mind. must be made clear

·        LARS briefing paper provided by DAP for info to the group – comments back to DAP invited.

ATSOCAS TRG UPDATE

·        Planning to provide trg to ATC on ATSOCAS is well down the road and progressing satisfactorily.

COMMS PLAN

·        Latest CAA comms plan not dissimilar to the last.

·        Distribution of ATSOCAS CD to GA pilots starts in Jan 09.

·        ASI website will include video clips on airspace guides.

·        Lookout campaign promotion advice sought from the group. Possible medical input on how to perform effective look out and push out in magazines etc.

·        Publicity on ‘Remain outside controlled airspace’ transmission policy.

·        Importance of the website and it being continually updated with solid and relevant information.

AOB

·        Confusion amongst GA pilots on what LARS is – and that it is not a service as per ATSOCAS. Possibility of a LARS publicity push to clarify. CD quick start does address the issue, but further action may be required. LARS info paper.

·        Feedback on ATSOCAS effectiveness will be required from the ATC providers and user groups, in order to ensure future publicity is well targeted.

·        406 Beacon purchases are now accelerating but Falmouth registration office being overwhelmed at this stage.

Next meeting date – cancel Dec meeting and go to 8 Jan 09 for the next meeting and review the need for Feb meeting at that stage.
