NATS Consultations

 

 

 

The TMZs are proposed as a measure to mitigate against the impact on ATC systems of off-shore wind farm developments in the Greater Wash area.  Arising from the feedback from consultation, three changes have been made to the proposed TMZ design - please see the feedback report.
 
As a result of these amendments to the proposal NATS is extending the consultation period in order to give stakeholders the opportunity to give further feedback.

Terminal Control North Consultation February 2009 Update

NATS is to conduct a new consultation, on revised proposals to redraw the aircraft route map in the area of south-east England known in airspace terms as Terminal Control North (TCN). This follows detailed consideration of feedback received during our original consultation in 2008; and from meetings last autumn with local authorities and representatives of AONBs to discuss feedback and options.

Update on the Stansted TMZ consultation document

Provides an update on proposed access procedures for aircraft unable to comply with the transponder operation requirements.  We have been working throughout the consultation to establish the best way to facilitate such access and we have received a number of questions and suggestions on that subject.  Therefore, we have provided this update that clarifies the statements in section 9 of the consultation document.

Consultation on the proposed introduction of Transponder Mandatory Zones in the vicinity of Stansted Airport
NATS this week commences consultation on proposed changes to airspace around Stansted airport. This airspace is very busy and particularly vulnerable to controlled airspace (CAS) infringements.

Change to AIP requiring Squawk A2000 on ground - effective 12 Feb 2009
We have been made aware that with effect 12 Feb 2009 the UK AIP will harmonise on the use of A2000 squawk on ground as follows: "Unless otherwise instructed by ATC, Mode S transponder equipped aircraft on the aerodrome surface should select Mode A code 2000 when under tow; or parked and prior to selecting OFF or STDBY."

Airspace Change Proposal (ACP)
The ACP is of a simple and straightforward nature and relates to portions of Controlled Airspace on the margins of the Manchester CTZ that is no longer required by ATC. Therefore NATS seeks to revise its status to class G airspace in accordance with CAA procedures.
