The Exterrnal Affiars Committee is made up of the following members:

Terms of Reference

1. Policy

There shall be an External Affairs Committee, established under the Constitution that shall be responsible for implementing the resolutions of the Executive Committee relating to:
the FOCUS Magazine
the Mike Griffin Award
the Annual Seminar
the promotion of the achievements of the UKFSC

The External Affairs Committee is responsible for:


a . Recommending changes in policy that relate to the "FOCUS on Commercial Aviation Safety" magazine to the Executive Board.
Recommending improvement opportunities to the status, visibility and effectiveness of the UKFSC to the Executive Committee.
b . Making recommendations for the Mike Griffin Award
c. Make recommendations regarding the Annual Seminar

2. Membership

The External Affairs Committee is to be chaired by the External Affairs Officer.

Membership should where possible include:
A nominee from CAA/NATS
A nominee from the Armed Services
A nominee from [Civil] Air Transport
Chief Executive
Two additional members may be co-opted onto the Committee if so required


Note: The number of members on the Committee should be kept as small as possible to ensure that the meetings do not become protracted.


3. The Role of the External Affairs Committee

The following terms of reference are set out to give the External Affairs Committee broad guidance for the execution of their duties.

FOCUS Magazine
The External Affairs Committee will:
Monitor the production and distribution of FOCUS Magazine and propose such changes that might improve it.
Consider suggestions for improving the magazine and decide if any such suggestion should be implemented.
Make representation to the Finance Committee for any additional finances to improve the magazine.

The Mike Griffin Award
The External Affairs Committee is responsible for the administration of the Mike Griffin Award.

Annual Seminar
The External Affairs Committee is responsible for the planning and organisation of the Annual Seminar.

Promotion
The External Affairs Committee is to explore opportunities to promote the achievements and raise the visibility of the UKFSC.

4. Meetings and Agenda


Dates

The External Affairs Committee shall meet at least four times per year. Meeting dates are to be arranged on an as required basis by the External Affairs Officer.

Agenda
The Agenda for each External Affairs Committee meeting will be published by the External Affairs Officer.

Record of Decisions
The External Affairs Officer is to record and publish the Record of Decisions as soon as possible after each External Affairs Committee meeting.
